Joomla 1.7: Make Default User Author

If you want users to be able to contribute content as soon as they register (without manually assigning them to Author group) follow the steps below to make new users Author by default.

In Joomla Administrator go to:

Site -> User Manager

Click the Options button on top toolbar.

Set New User Registration Group to Author.
